At the end of March 2019, the Corekin and QueerWils Research Projects welcomed Professor Davina Cooper (king’s College, London) at Think Corner, Helsinki University with Public Talk “A Very Binary Drama: the Conceptual Struggle For Gender´s Future”. The talk was followed by a discussion with Professor Tuija Pulkkinen and moderated by the Academy Research Fellow, Dr. Antu Sorainen.

For those who are interested in the written text, here is the link to the article “A Very Binary Drama: The Conceptual Struggle for Gender’s Future” that Prof. Cooper´s talk was based on.

The Talk was a second part of the “Dialogue series on The Future of Gender, Sexualities, Kinship and Inheritance”. The first Public Talk of this dialogue was given by Professor J. Jack Halberstam (Columbia University, New York).

The Dialogue Series was popular among the very diverse auditory consisting of scholars and students from gender studies, art, law and other specialities. The invited thinkers raised very different topics around the future of gender and sexuality, followed by intensive discussions with audience members.

Below, we are happy to present the photos and a short video from the second Public Talk given by Professor Davina Cooper 27 March 2019.
